Insurance Coverage of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine
Most health insurance plans are now covering acupuncture. Check with your insurance provider directly to find out if it is covered under your plan. I am more than willing to help you if I can. If I am not a provider with your health insurance carrier, check to see if you have out-of-network coverage for acupuncture. I can supply you with all the documentation you will need to get reimbursed.

AcuTherapy is currently a provider for the following health insurance plans:
-
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts
-
Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare
-
Health Plans Inc.
-
Mass General Brigham Health Care
Health Insurance carriers do NOT reimburse the fee for Chinese herbal medicine consults or formulas. They will not pay for cosmetic acupuncture treatments, the fees of prepaid packages, missed appointments or late cancellations, all of which is the patient's responsibility. If the intention is to submit receipts, it will be necessary to pay for individual sessions or submit receipts once the series is complete.

Does Medicare cover Acupuncture?
Beginning in 2020, Acupuncture IS a covered benefit under the US Medicare system, however, the treatment must be performed by a physician who is also a licensed acupuncturist by the Board of Medicine in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts or by an acupuncturist who works out a physician's office. Neither is applicable to AcuTherapy at this time.
